Melbourne, Feb 23 (ANI): A four-year-old Connecticut boy brought nine wrapped bags of marijuana to his elementary school for snack time, according to police.

The boy's teacher at Hanover Elementary School, in Meriden, said the special-needs student pulled the bags from his coat pocket during Tuesday's snack time and announced he had snacks, local newspaper the Record-Journal reported.

Mark Benigni, the school superintendent, said the teacher confiscated the drugs quickly and that the other children were not aware of what happened, according to the newspaper.

Our concern is for the four-year-old student who had no knowledge of what he was bringing to school, News.com.au quoted Benigni as saying.

The student is safe, and we will continue to ensure a safe learning environment to all of our students, Benigni said.

Police said that they were investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made as yet.

Investigators identified the child's mother but have not yet released her name, The Hartford Courant reported. (ANI)
