Washington, June 20(ANI): MasterCard has denied claims made by a hacker that he had stolen their and VisaCard's information from nearly 80 banks.
The hacker claimed to have been working a hack for three months, infiltrating the systems of 79 banks.
He said he possessed 50 gigabytes of data, but posted only a portion of it on the site PasteBin to back up his claims.
But PCWorld has called up some of the people whose information was on the list and has found that most of it is outdated, with some listed numbers being disconnected, The Los Angeles Times reports.
A spokesman for MasterCard noted that one report said the data posted by the hacker appears to be more than two weeks old.
Earlier, MasterCard had pointed out that the data posted did not contain any payment information. (ANI)
