Johannesburg, June 27 (ANI): An Israeli group that aids needy Holocaust survivors is hosting an unusual event in the form of a beauty pageant.
Yad Ezer LaChaver says that about 20 women in their 80s and 90s will take part in Thursday's pageant.

The participants will wear their finest clothes and tell their life stories at a hall in Haifa.

A former beauty queen will present a crown to the winner.

Event organiser Shimon Sabag said that the pageant will present the women in a dignified manner.

There is beauty, and definitely character, at any age, and that includes those who survived the Holocaust, news24 quoted him as saying.

The Holocaust is a delicate subject in Israel, where about 200,000 elderly survivors live, as six million Jews were killed by German Nazis and their collaborators in World War II. (ANI)
