London, Aug. 9 (ANI): The secret murder trial of the wife of disgraced Chinese politician Bo Xilai has ended after just one day, but without a verdict.

The court's deputy director confirmed that the trial has ended, but did not disclose as to when a verdict can be expected.

Gu Kailai, the wife of fallen Communist Party politician Bo Xilai, who had earlier confessed to killing British businessman Neil Heywood last November in a Chongqing hotel, did not contest the charge of poisoning the 41-year-old.

Zhang Xiaojun, the household aide and bodyguard of Bo's family, is also on trial with Gu.

The court will be giving a briefing, obviously, The Telegraph quoted one of the diplomats, as saying, refusing to give further details.

Gu's lawyer reportedly told the court she was responsible but that her cooperation during the investigation should be taken into account.

The alleged murder triggered a major political crisis, toppling the charismatic Bo from his post as party secretary in the mega-city of Chongqing, and electrifying Chinese politics on the eve of the country's once-in-a-decade leadership transition, the paper said.

Court officials declined to comment on how long the trial might take, or confirm if Heywood's family were attending, the paper added. (ANI)
