London, Aug 9 (ANI): Brit cyclist Laura Trott, who has won two gold medals for her country at the London Games so far, has revealed how she turned her fortunes around after almost dying as a baby.

Trott said she is lucky to be alive after being born a month prematurely with a collapsed lung that threatened her life.

I was born early, and I was in intensive care for six weeks. My mum and dad were worried because they hadn't been given much hope, but I'm here now, and it just shows what you can achieve, The Daily Mail quoted Trott, as saying.

I never would have expected this. I'm only 20, it feels so surreal! she added.

The blonde from Hertfordhsire also suffers from severe acid reflux, which means she is sick after every race.

Trott said: It's the pressure you put your body through. I am used to it now.'

On Wednesday, Trott won gold in the women's Omnium event, adding to the medal that she and her teammates Joanna Rowsell and Dani King landed in the 3000m Pursuit event at the Velodrome on Saturday.

But being a medal winner is going to get some getting used to for Laura, and she said: I didn't know whether I just fluked it in Melbourne and whether I could beat them all again. So it's just amazing, especially to do it in front of a home crowd.

It's just dedication and we look into the smallest of things. Three years out we're starting looking into things, not three months out, it's small things that make the difference for Great Britain, she added. (ANI)
