Karachi, Aug.17 (ANI): In what could be another case of sectarian-related violence, at least one person was killed and 19 others injured in a blast near the Safari Park in Karachi.

According to the Express Tribune, the blast occurred when a bus was passing by the area.

The daily further revealed that passengers on board were to take part in a rally on M.A. Jinnah Road.

The report by the Express Tribune said that ball bearings had pierced through the arms, legs and chests of the passengers.

Initial reports stated that the passengers were students of Imamia Students Organisation (ISO). Over 20 people were on board the bus at the time of the blast.

The bus was partially destroyed by the explosion.

When reports last came in, law enforcement agencies had cordoned off the area, and were conducting investigations.

The daily said that the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) is yet to arrive at the spot of the blast.

The Edhi Foundation has stated that six of the 19 injured have been shifted to a private hospital in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, while others are being shifted to the Jinnah Hospital.

According to the Express Tribue, Youm-e-Quds is being observed and many rallies are being taken out in this regard. The rally is organised every year on the last Friday of Ramazan. (ANI)
