Islamabad, Aug 26 (ANI): The Pakistan Government has decided to offer withdrawing the letter written by former Attorney General Justice (retired) Malik Abdul Qayyum to a Swiss court more than four years ago asking to close down the case against President Asif Ali Zardari.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), in return would ask the court to quash the proceedings against the prime minister in the NRO implementation case. The contention of the government will be placed before the court by its counsel on Monday, reports The News.

Meanwhile, Law Minister Farooq H Naek, has pleaded for the personal appearance of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in accordance with the orders of the apex court.

According to sources, the government would seek an adjournment in the Supreme Court in the contempt case on Monday.

In case Ashraf doesn't appear, the PPP would compel the court to take ex-parte judgment. The absence of the accused could aggravate the atmosphere, and the court could suspend the prime minister and restraining orders for the prime minister could be issued stopping him in discharging his official duties and using authority till compliance of the court orders, the sources said.

Former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani is skeptical about the outcome in the court.

It would be a useless exercise and wouldn't help the prime minister as the stance of the superior judiciary is quite obvious, Gilani had earlier said. (ANI)
