Damascus, Aug 27 (ANI): Syrian Vice President Farouk Al-Sharaa has made his first public appearance, ending speculation that he had defected in what would have been a major blow to President Bashar Assad's regime.
Al-Sharaa was last seen at the funeral of four top Syrian government officials who were killed in a blast in Damascus on July 18.
Since then, it was believed that he had defected to Jordan.
Jordan and Al-Sharaa's office, however, repeatedly denied news of the defection.
According to CBS News, on Sunday, Al-Sharaa was seen coming out of his car and walking to his office for a meeting with Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the head of Iran's powerful parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy.
Al-Sharaa looked serious and steered away from journalists covering the meeting, the report said. (ANI)
